The Medici Fortresses
The majestic defensive system of Cosmopoli (the ancient name of Portoferraio) includes Forte Stella, Forte Falcone and the Torre della Linguella. These bastions, commissioned by Cosimo I de’ Medici in 1548, are a masterpiece of military architecture and offer a breathtaking view over the entire gulf.

The Mines of Capoliveri and Monte Calamita
Elba’s iron-rich heart beats just a few kilometres from Le Acacie. The Ginevro Mines are the only underground site on the island still open to visitors. Through guided tours, you can descend underground to experience firsthand the industrial archaeology and the centuries-old toil of the Capoliveri miners.
